Detect Color Blindness

Detect Color Blindness is an educational screening tool. It is not a medical device, and its results are not a diagnosis.

Not a diagnosis

The tests and simulations on this site are provided for general information and self-education. They cannot diagnose colour vision deficiency, eye disease or any other medical condition, and they are no substitute for a professional examination by a qualified optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Online colour tests have limits

Results depend heavily on your screen, its colour calibration and brightness, your lighting, and even the device's night-mode settings. Two people with identical colour vision can get different results on different screens. A "pass" here does not certify normal colour vision, and a flagged result does not confirm a deficiency.

When to see a professional

Please seek a professional colour-vision assessment if:

  • Your result matters for a licence, medical or job (aviation, maritime, rail, military, electrical and similar).
  • You have concerns about a child's colour vision or development.
  • Your colour vision has changed: new or worsening colour problems can signal an eye or health condition and should be checked promptly.
  • You notice other symptoms such as pain, reduced vision or visual disturbance.

No professional relationship

Using this site does not create a doctor-patient or optometrist-patient relationship. Always follow the advice of your own qualified healthcare provider. If you think you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.

For how the test works and our sources, see About & Methodology.
